Judy Ann Zehner

Judy Ann Zehner, age 81, of Shelby, passed away Sunday night, June 30, 2024 at Crestline Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Judy was born September 25, 1942 in Mansfield to the late Clarence W. and Nellie M. (Stauffer) Summers. A 1960 graduate of Shelby High School, Judy married Thomas R. Zehner on April 9, 1962 together they have had 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Judy was highly regarded and respected for mothering over 200 foster children and grandchildren together with her husband, Tom. For her 40 years of dedication, Judy was awarded with multiple achievements of service – 20 years with Richland County Children Services and 20 years with Cuyahoga County Children Services. She never hesitated to support whatever endeavor her children aspired to achieve or do. Judy enjoyed drying, cooking, and canning foods for her family and was always busy crocheting or making quilts for her children.

Judy will be remembered for her kindness, upbeat attitude towards life, humor, and, certainly, her love of family. In addition to her husband, Tom, Judy is survived by 3 natural children, 7 adopted children, numerous foster children, and her brother, Jim Summers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Zehner, and sister, Joyce Runkle.

Family and friends are welcome to attend graveside services on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 1 pm at Shenandoah Cemetery, State Route 13, Shenandoah. Fr. Daniel Orr will officiate the services. Memorial contributions may be made to FISH of Shelby, 29 ½ Walnut Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875, where she and Tom were dedicated volunteers for over 20 years.
