Juanita M. Baker
Juanita M. Baker, age 93, of Mansfield, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio after a brief illness.
Juanita was born June 12, 1924 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Alva M. and Hazel (Wayt) Laser. She was a 1942 graduate of Shiloh High School. Juanita began her working career at A&P Grocery in Shelby and, following that, during World War II, worked at Wilkens Airforce Depot. She ultimately spent most of her career as an executive secretary at Shelby Insurance Group for over 30 years.
Juanita enjoyed reading and was an excellent pie maker. She was avidly dedicated to physical activity. She enjoyed walking at the OhioHealth Ontario Health and Fitness Center several days a week. She was a docent for many years at Kingwood Center giving tours to guests. Her love for gardening followed her home as she thoroughly enjoyed maintaining her own greenhouse.
Juanita is survived by her 2 children: Gregory (Mary K. Rosner-Baker) Baker of Columbus and Ann (Duane) Johnson of Mt. Vernon; 2 grandchildren: Michael A. Baker and Amy Baker (fiancé, Jay Goyal); and 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Eldora Willford of Plymouth, Alfred (Alma) Laser of Colorado, Della Kaple of Galion, and Thomas (Sara) Laser of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Nadine Morris and Mary Davis.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 11 am- 1 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 West Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44907 where funeral services will follow at 1 pm. Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki, her pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Shiloh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services or Shiloh Historical Society. Care for Juanita and her family is being provided by Bob, Catherine and Jake at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.

Greg and family, I was very saddened to hear of Juanita’s passing. I have many fond memories of Juanita from back in the Shelby Insurance days. She was such a lovely, caring, and genuine person and I enjoyed all of my interactions with her. I hope your memories and all those being shared here will provide some small comfort during this extremely difficult time.
