John F. Ensman

John F. Ensman, age 77, of Shelby, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his home.

 

John was born September 8, 1936 in Shelby, son of the late Fredrick and Frances (Spangler) Ensman. He was a 1954 graduate of Shelby High School. After 43 years of service, John retired from Copperweld in Shelby. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he had been on Parish Council, St. Mary School Board, and was a lay distributor. He was also a member of the Shelby Knights of Columbus. Sunday evening meals with his children and grandchildren were cherished moments in John’s life.

 

On June 28, 1958 John married Carol A. Heydinger at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn and she survives. Also surviving are 6 children: Kurt Ensman of Galion and his children: Kendra, Kirsten, Kurt M. Ensman; Jeff (Jennifer) Ensman of Lebanon and their children: John G. and Joel Ensman; Kenneth (Julie Kay) Ensman of Shelby and their children: Andrew (Sierra) Ensman, Kayla (John) Roberts, Christopher (Mandy) Ensman, Sarah (Donald) Adkins, Erica (Tyler) Fairchild; Angee (Richard) Hostetler of Shelby and their children: Emma and Jared Mose Hostetler; Lisa (David) Hedrick of Norwalk and their children: Grady, Meghan, Davis, and Ryan Hedrick; Jody Ensman of Lexington, KY; 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers: James (Bonnie) Ensman of Shelby, Norbert (Brenda) Ensman of SC; 2 sisters: Rosie (Paul) Yosick of Fairborn, Marg (Carl) Sifferlin of Shelby; 2 sisters-in-law: Marcella “Toots” Ensman of Shelby, Peggy Heydinger of Norwalk; 3 brothers-in-law: Edwin (Carrol) Heydinger of IN, Gerry (Cha Cha) Heydinger of CA, Herman (Lida) Heydinger of FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Frankie Ensman; 2 brothers: Alfred Ensman, Jerry Ensman; a brother-in-law: Tom Heydinger.

 

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where a wake service will be held at 8 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, 29 West Street, Shelby with Fr. Jim Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church or FISH of Shelby.

Condolence
