Jimmie J. “Jim” Scarbrough

Jimmie J. “Jim” Scarbrough, age 83, of Crestline, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Signature HealthCARE of Galion.

Jim was born October 15, 1934 in Crestline, the son of the late Howard and Hazel (Danals) Scarbrough. He was a 1953 graduate of Springfield Township High School in Ontario and later attended Kent State University where he earned a teaching certificate. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving during the Korean War. For his career, Jim working in construction as part of the Carpenters Union Local 735. Jim’s hobbies mirrored those of his late wife, Norma. Together, they loved to shoot trap- Jim specifically enjoying going to the Crawford County Conservation League in Bucyrus. They also enjoyed riding and showing Tennessee Walking horses in the halter class and loved dogs, especially rottweilers. Jim’s fun loving and joking personality was second to none and was a trait that set him apart from the rest.

On October 25, 1958, Jim married Norma Jean (Long) Scarbrough, who preceded him in death just three short months ago on June 25, 2018. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Brad and Kerri Scarbrough of Shelby and several cousins, special friends, and neighbors.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 10-11 am at the PENWELL TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 am with Kindred Hospice Chaplain, Terry McLaughlin, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail at the funeral home and burial will be in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice of Marion or Signature HealthCARE of Galion.
