Jerry C. Stairs

Jerry C. Stairs, age 80, of Shelby, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.

He was born May 14, 1938 in Alton, Missouri the son of the late Paul B. and Matrid I. (Cockman) Stairs. Jerry was employed at Shelby Sales Book Company from where he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and all animals-especially dogs. Jerry had an outgoing personality and never knew a stranger.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years: Mary Lou (Livingston) Stairs, whom he wed on July 26, 1958; a daughter: Michele (William) Vrabel of Shelby; a son: Daniel Stairs (Lynn Witherup) of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Eric Vrabel (Sarah Adkins), Elizabeth Vrabel, Michael (Ashley) Vrabel, Christopher (Afina) Stairs, Kevin Stairs (Ami Ramsdell) Cassandra Stairs; 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in a death by his parents; a son: Stephen Paul Stairs; 3 brothers: Donald Stairs, Joe Stairs and his twin, Jimmy Stairs.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 10-11 AM at the PENWELL TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Nate Hultz. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens in Crestline.
