Janet Elaine West
Janet Elaine West, age 73, of Shelby, died early Sunday morning, June 12, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family following a 20-year strong battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Janet was born on October 15, 1948 in Shelby to the late Marabelle E. (Baker) and Ross B. Fackler, Sr. She was a 1966 graduate of Shelby High School. Janet spent her career in the banking industry in various position. She worked for First National Bank of Shelby from 1986-2005 in the accounting department as a loan processor.
Janet was a founding member of Country Farm Hands 4-H Club and was a member of ABC’s Guidance League. She loved flower gardening, canning, and watching the birds out the window. Janet enjoyed collecting antiques and friends- she never met a stranger. Above all else, Janet was very proud of her family and their accomplishments.
On July 8, 1967, Janet married her husband of nearly 55 years, Larry E. West, and he survives. Also surviving are her children: Larry West, Jr. of Norwalk, Rechelle (Michael) Silverwood of Trussville, AL; and Jill West of Shelby; grandchildren: Lynette (Tylor) Nester, Ashley West (fiancé Dakota), Haley West, Michael Brandon Silverwood (fiancé Abigail), Lauren Silverwood, and Kaitlin Silverwood; great grandchildren: Owen, Adler, and Harlynn; siblings: Shirley (James) Silverwood of Crestline, Lucinda (Charles) Johnson of Shelby, and Ross B. Fackler, Jr. (Theresa) of Hamilton, MT; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her aunt: Hildred McMahon.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the funeral home at 2 pm, where family and friends are welcome an hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Kathy Kollar will officiate and burial will follow in Little London Cemetery, Shelby. I’m so sorry for your loss, I always enjoyed seeing Janet at mothers club.
To Larry and family, I want to send my sincere condolences to you on the loss of Janet. I only met her a couple of times but she seemed so sweet. I sure hated that she had to deal with that darn Parkinson’s for all those years. She is finally pain free. I hope the support of family and friends helps you through this time of loss.

I was sad to read about Janet’s passing. I only met her a couple times several years ago, so didn’t know her well. But, a cousin is a cousin and more importantly, your sister.
You will always miss her, but you can still send your thoughts to her.
