Herbert S. Beeching

Herbert S. Beeching, age 87, of Shelby, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.

Herb was born August 13, 1925 in Plymouth, Ohio the son of the late Albert and Rachel (Stine) Beeching. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.  During his working career, Herb owned his own bookkeeping business and in the mid 1970’s he bought Bressler’s 33 Flavor Ice Cream Store in the Richland Mall, which he operated for over 14 years. After that, he worked part time for a number of years at Citizens Bank in Shelby as a courier. Herb was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby. Herb enjoyed playing the organ and shared his musical talents as a substitute organist at First Lutheran as well as at other area churches.

He was a former board member at the Rehab Center in Mansfield where he was an active  volunteer and liked sharing his sign language skills with others. He was a former member of the Shelby Sertoma Club and volunteered with his wife, Dorothy, at the Renaissance Theater in Mansfield.

Herb is survived by his 2 daughters: Cindy Stanford (Ben Lash) of Shelby and Amy Beeching of Shiloh; 3 grandchildren: Holly (Justin) Hensley, Derek Stanford (Tia Kirby), Cassie Stanford; 2 sister-in-laws: Jane Beeching of Shelby and Margaret Monn of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Dorothy Louise (Schreck) Beeching, 2 brothers: Edwin and Eugene Beeching.

Friends are welcome on Tuesday July 16, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church in Shelby with  Pastor Russel Yoak officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial expressions may be made to First Lutheran Church.
