Gerald T. “Jerry” Kreinbrink
Gerald T. “Jerry” Kreinbrink, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, died Sunday morning, April 11, 2021, at the age of 81, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Jerry was born April 6, 1940, to Leonard and Edna (Schroeder) Kreinbrink in Putnam County, Ohio. He worked for 30 years at PPG Industries. On April 29, 1961, he married Marcia Wise.
Jerry was a lifelong farmer. He raised his three daughters on a farm near Tiro, Ohio and had a passion for refurbishing antique tractors, was a member of the Antique Tractor Association and the Two Cylinder Club, and always made sure to help other farmers in the area and fix lawnmowers for anyone who needed it.
Jerry dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He spent 43 years at the Tiro Volunteer Fire Department, seven of those as fire chief, was an Auburn Township Trustee for 8 years, and was a member of the Crestline Eagles. He was a devout Catholic his entire life and was an active member of both Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in North Auburn and St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington. He was one of God’s best enforcers leading by example in serving the church as a lector, eucharistic distributor, and always volunteered at parish events- excelling specifically in instant Bingo ticket sales.
He had a subscription to the local newspaper his entire life, specifically so he could read the comics, and his daily routine included solving the worlds problems over coffee at the fire house with his friends. Jerry’s greatest joys included riding his motor scooter and spending time with his children and grandchildren- attending many sporting events and recitals over the years.
He is survived by a large and loving family: his wife of 60 years, Marcia; his daughters, Annette (Randy) Gardner of Toledo, Michele (Carl) Lamping of Cincinnati, and Julie (Steve) Heinlen of Nevada; seven grandchildren: Brad (Cara) Heinlen, Nate (Amber) Heinlen, Andrew Lamping, Lauren Lamping, Ted Gardner, Sarah Gardner, and Jack Gardner; five great-grandchildren: Abigail, Anthony, Aiden, Harper, and Eleanor; his siblings, Nick (Kathy) Kreinbrink, Sister Mary Stephan SND, Helen (Gene) Boes, and Carolyn (Silas) Chaney; brother-in-law: Dennis Jaqueth; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alice Jaqueth.
Jerry’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 422 W. Mansfield Street, New Washington, Ohio on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Fr. George Mahas officiating. Calling hours will be at Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 4-7 pm with a wake service beginning at 7 pm. Burial will be in Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery, North Auburn. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial contributions to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Appropriate ways to express sympathy may be done by leaving an online condolence on Jerry’s obituary at www.PenwellTurner.com or by leaving a comment on his post on the funeral home’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/PenwellFuneral.
