Gary Lee Steed

Gary Lee Steed, 61, of Shelby, died unexpectedly, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Shelby Hospital.

 Gary was born August 26, 1954 in Ironton, Ohio the son of James Harold and Margaret (Lewis) Steed. He graduated from Ironton High Scholl and attended The Ohio State University for two years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving as Lance Corporal. Gary then served in the reserves before being called to active duty during Desert Storm. Following his military service, Gary worked at NASA in data entry and then for J.C. Penney in Hampton, VA retiring from the Ontario store. Gary was a member of Lexington Resurrection Parish and had been active in his church in Virginia. Gary enjoyed watching TV, using his tablet, watching Chuck Norris and practicing karate. He and Connie used to enjoy ice skating.

He is survived by his wife: Consuelo Vida “Connie” (Lopez) Steed, whom he wed on May 13, 1995; a sister: Barbara Buck of Shelby; 3 nieces: Tamara Buck, Bryndol Buck, and Christina Buck; a nephew: Matthew (Wendi Hicks) Buck; 3 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: James Ronald Steed.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 12-1 PM at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will follow at 1 PM. Fr. Nelson Beaver will officiate and burial will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
