Gary A. Lehman
Gary A. Lehman, age 61, of Shelby, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 4, 2019 after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.
Gary was born November 18, 1957, the only child of the late Mervin and Violet Louise (Stimpert) Lehman. He was a graduate of Crestview High School. Gary grew up on the family farm and, from a very young age, had a passion for agriculture. Gary spent his life doing what he loved most: raising hogs, feeder cattle, and grain farming with his cousin, Dave Grauer. He also helped his daughter, Kathy, with her show cattle at home. Although very few people ever saw him up high in the stands, Gary never missed an Ohio State Fair Final Drive heifer show. Gary enjoyed Sunday drives and always made several stops along the way to visit with friends and neighbors.
Gary is survived by his wife of 30 years: Angela F. “Angie” (Grove) Lehman; his daughter: Kathy Lehman; 3 aunts: Pat Stimpert, Marlene Lehman, and Janice Lehman; father-in-law: David (Alice) Grove; mother-in-law: Charlotte Grove; brother-in-law: Dave (Missi) Grove; 2 nieces: Hannah Woods and Chloe Grove; and many cousins and friends.
Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11 am. Rev. Walter Keib will officiate the services and burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Olivesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Crestview FFA and left in care of the funeral home.

Oh what a sad day for your family and all your friends Gary. You will be missed so much not only for the wonderful person you were but for all the support you gave the community and Crestview FFA. I am so sorry that you are enduring this shock, loss, and overwhelming grief. No one knows better than the two of you what an outstanding human Gary was.
In a lifetime you come across fine people but Gary was the epitome of kindness. Quick with a smile, neighborly conversation, and giving of his time. You never had to ask Gary for anything because he saw the need and filled it. I will miss his visits, our conversations in the middle of intersections, his Sunday crop checks, and his friendly wave when we passed on the road. Vi and Merv raised one of the finest people I have ever known and he beamed when he spoke of Kathy and Angie. I know Dave and Tammy are aching as well. The remaining Yost clan send their live, support, and condolences.

With our father’s passing we have been in awe of the strength and kindness of this community. I hope that you experience the same warmth and generosity and if there is anything we can do for you – we will be there. Your husband and father (respectively) was a kind man who was always known to lend a helping hand. His hardworking spirit will genuinely be missed by the community. Nothing we say can make this better, but we have been thinking of Gary and cherishing the moments we had together. May he Rest In Peace.

To the Family: I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I did not know Gary on a personal basis, but I was proud to be a relative. He was so young by today’s standards. Thank God he enjoyed what he did in life.

Dearest Angie and Kathy, sigh….. First may I say I was both shocked and so saddened to hear of Gary’s sudden passing. I’ve known him since that shy little guy with a kind smile stepped on the school bus in his little plaid shirt! He was his mom and dad’s shining joy and they would be so proud of the wonderful man, husband and father he was. Oh how I wish I had something to say or do that that could possibly help ease the pain in your hurting hearts…. sigh.
I only can hope that the love, prayers and support of family, friends, and neighbors will ease the hurt if only for moments to make these days somehow bearable and that God truly grants you a peace that truly passes understanding. Love, hugs and prayers…Rex and Jan

Angie and Kathy: I want to offer my deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of Gary. He was a special guy and I’m heartbroken as I know others are too. I grew up across the road from Gary and graduated from Crestview with him in 1976. We loved him and his parents, Mervin an Vi.. so many great memories. My family and I are thinking of you all at this difficult time.
Gary was a quiet spoken man and I had met him through Casey Yost. I used his gator to pick up rocks in his fields for my personal use which was mutually beneficial. Casey spoke very highly of him and I remember driving past his house that showcased his wife’s beautiful rosebushes that she tended with the utmost care. Nice nice family.
