Fred E. Volz, Jr.
Fred E. Volz, Jr., age 70, of Willard, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.
He was born September 20, 1944 in Mansfield, the son of the late Fred E. and Eula Marie (Duncan) Volz, Sr. Fred was a 1962 graduate of Lexington High School and served in the Air Force Reserves. He retired from AK Steel in Mansfield after 25 years of service. He also worked at several other steel manufacturing plants in Michigan, Alabama, and Ohio. Fred also had his Real Estate License and sold real estate for Brown Realty. Fred enjoyed music, especially Rock and Roll, and loved to dance. Fred found joy in the simple pleasures like boating, fishing, baking and gardening. He was an avid sports fan following the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He adored spending time with his family and especially his dogs which he spoiled. Many people looked up to Fred and cared about him deeply as he was a good man and a role model to many.
Fred is survived by his wife, Brenda K. (Patrick) Volz whom he wed on November 30, 1985; 6 daughters: Victoria (Craig) Iceman of Lexington, Melissa (Harold) Washington of Willard, Rachel Monn of Willard, Angel (Todd) Johnson of Shelby, Robin (Onterio) Pearson of San Marcos, CA, Randi (Derek) DeGray of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; a brother: Charles Volz of Lexington; 2 sisters: Barbara (Ted) Beal of Lexington and Gayle (Chris) Bacquet of PA.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 11 AM – 2 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby to celebrate the life of Fred. A service will be at 2 PM. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
