Francis David “Frank” Snyder
Francis David “Frank” Snyder, age 82, of Shiloh, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.
Frank was born January 26, 1940 in Gibsonburg, Sandusky County, Ohio to the late Clarence W. and Beulah A. (Maidment) Snyder. The family moved to the Shiloh area in 1953 for farming, a passion Frank carried with him his entire life. He had been a member of the Richland County Farm Bureau, Shiloh Grange, Buckeye Iron Will, and was a longtime supporter of the FFA students. In addition to farming, Frank was a school bus driver for Plymouth-Shiloh School District and had been a Cass Township Trustee for many years. Frank was 32nd Degree Master Mason and was Past Master of the Shiloh Lodge #544 F&AM where he had been a member for over 50 years. He was also a dual member of the Shelby Lodge #350 F&AM. Frank and his wife, Alice, were 40+ year members of Chapter B Honda Goldwing Road Riders where they made and enjoyed many longtime friendships over the years.
Frank was a constant prankster, making his passing on April Fool’s Day so very fitting. He loved to tinker and work on things always claiming that “he could build that” instead of purchasing- which he often succeeded at. He and Alice also enjoyed several years of wintering to AZ and attended Wesley Evangelical Church in Shiloh.
Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Alice Marie (Keipp) Snyder, whom he wed on June 29, 1962. Also surviving are 2 sons: Rodney (Kelly) Snyder of Shiloh and Jason (Lynn) Snyder of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Ian Snyder, Molly (Dennis) Cabrera, Natalie Snyder, Kelsey Snyder, and Abby Snyder; 4 great grandchildren: Roman and Emery Cabrera and Finn and Violet Snyder; 2 sisters: Margaret Fuller of Mansfield and Mary Cairns of Mansfield; a sister-in-law: Marcia Snyder of AZ; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother: Bruce Snyder; and two infant brothers: Donald and Leland.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4-8 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where Masonic services will be conducted at 8 pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:30 am with Pastor Russ Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Evangelical Church or the Plymouth FFA Scholarship Fund and left in care of the funeral home.
