Evelyn Gertrude Till

Evelyn Gertrude Till, age 89, of Crestline, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.

Evelyn was born on May 7, 1923 in New York, New York, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Merritt) Renz. She was a 1941 graduate of Union Hill High School in New Jersey. Evelyn had spent time as a bookkeeper for Stacy Haun Builders. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed traveling.

Evelyn is survived by: a daughter: Carol (Jerry) Niese of Crestline; 6 grandchildren: Patrick (Shelly) Niese of Crestline, Kelly (Scott) McCarthy of Tiro, Jacquelyn (Todd) Fike of Crestline, Daniel (Jenny) Niese of New Washington, Lynn (Nathan) Auck of Findlay, Erin Niese (Chip Smith) of Shelby; 12 great grandchildren: Aubrey Niese, Casey Niese, Kaily VanVlerah, Haley McCarthy, Clayton McCarthy, Alex Fike, Tyler Niese, Taylor Niese, Nick Fike, Carson McCarthy, Bailey Holt, Sophia Auck; a brother-in-law: Frank Till; a sister-in-law: Marguerite Shade; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Till in 2009; a daughter: Lynn Till in 1969; a brother, Charles Renz, Jr.

Friends are welcome on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where a rosary will be recited at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem with Fr. Frederick Schill officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
