Elton Eugene Smith

Elton Eugene Smith, age 70, of Fostoria, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Fox Run Assisted Living in Findlay.

Elton was born March 21, 1946 in Shelby, the son of the late George and Helen (Rigg) Smith. He was a 1966 graduate of Shelby High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Elton was a former employee of Shelby Autocall and retired from Union Carbide in Fostoria. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, shooting guns, and in the past, building model airplanes.

Elton is survived by 2 brothers: Philip R. (Jannie) Smith of Shelby and Joseph T. (Leony) Smith of Willard; an uncle: George R. Rigg of Shelby; an aunt: Joann Rigg of Shelby; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Georgia Ann Wagner.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 1-2 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM. Pastor Rus Yoak will officiate and burial will follow in Little London Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
