Eloise “Ellie” (Tackett) Landis

Eloise “Ellie” (Tackett) Landis, age 83, of Shelby, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Monday morning, August 31, 2020 at Blossom Healthcare in Willard.

Ellie was born March 22, 1937 in Salyersville, KY to the late Oren and Tessie (Conley) Tackett. She attended Salyersville High School. Ellie worked at Miami Systems/Shelby Business Forms and retired from there after 34 years of service. She was an extremely active member of Taylortown Community Church. Together with her husband, Rick, she enjoyed traveling, especially their numerous trips to Alaska, and going to NASCAR races.

Ellie truly loved her family. Those surviving are: 8 siblings: Earnestene Cunningham of Plymouth, Virginia (Jan) Day of Plymouth, Janet Sue Ryman of Shelby, John (Josie) Tackett of CO, Rev. O. Douglas (Mary) Tackett of Shelby, Jerry (Sharon) Tackett of SC, Barbara Jean Porter of Shelby, Sandra (Paul) Kistemarker of Norwalk; numerous nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Kimberly High; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are her husband: Richard A. “Rick” Landis on April 14, 2014; 2 sisters: Gerldean Brooks and Reta Hammond; and 2 infant brothers.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11 am at Taylortown Community Church, 2656 Taylortown Road, Shelby. Her brother, Rev. O. Douglas Tackett, will officiate the services and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church and left in care of the funeral home.

Due to the current COVID-19 circumstances, both the family and the funeral home wish that everyone remains safe. Therefore, we ask that visitors be mindful of current restrictions and pay respects appropriately and promptly, without linger.
