Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Carpenter

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Carpenter, age 67, of Mansfield, died Friday, August 5, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.

Betty was born August 14, 1948 in Pineville, KY to Henry and Geraldine (Lowe) Neal. She graduated from Bell County High School in Pineville and attended Morehead State University where she received a degree in nursing.

Betty’s family was her ultimate hobby and surviving her are: her husband, Larry Wayne Carpenter, whom she wed in 1982; a daughter: Karen (Paul) VonStein of Shiloh; 3 sons: Larry (Elaine) Carpenter of Mansfield, Kevin Carpenter of North Carolina, and Tracey Carpenter of North Carolina; her mother: Geraldine Neal of Ewing, VA; 9 grandchildren: Michael Paul, Patricia Carpenter, Christina Smith, Traci Carpenter, Terri Murphy, Taylor Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Cory Carpenter, Caleb VonStein; 13 great grandchildren; 4 brothers and sisters: Nancy Anna Cannon of Ewing, VA, Frank (Pauline) Neal of Tazewell, TN, David (Phyllis) Neal of Tazewell, TN, Lisa (Dennis) Grubbs of Pineville, KY; and a very special niece that Betty and Larry have loved like a daughter: Michelle Medek Smith.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 10-11 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Pastor Steve Baldridge, Pastor of Rome Community Church, will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass Bloominggrove and Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department.
