Edwin W. Shirk

Edwin W. Shirk, age 74 years, 2 months, 2 days, of Shiloh, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after an unexpected illness.

He was born December 9, 1941 in Ephrata, PA, the son of the late Martin and Esther (Weaver) Shirk. Moving to the Shiloh area in 1999, Edwin, along with his son, Earl, have Shiloh Carriage Shop making buggies. He was a member of Springmill Mennonite Church.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Burkholder) Shirk, whom he wed on November 29, 1966. Also surviving are 7 children: Earl Shirk of Shiloh, Ella (Emory) Zimmerman of Shiloh, Martha (Alvin) Zimmerman of Mansfield, Marian (Aaron) Hoover of Charles City, IA, Elizabeth (Leon) Zimmerman of Plymouth, Harlan (Gayle) Shirk of Dayton, VA, and Daniel (Martha) Shirk of Shelby; 47 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 8 brothers and sisters: Susie Shirk, Eli (Anna) Shirk, Mary (Alvin) Leid, Edna (Miles) Martin, Esther Shirk, Ruth Shirk, Martha (J. David) Martin, and Clarence (Arlene) Shirk, all of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 1-5 PM at the family home, 8439 Shiloh-Norwalk Road, Shiloh. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Springmill Mennonite Church, Dininger Road, Shelby. Bishop Ammon Burkholder and the home ministry will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Care for Edwin and his family is being provided by Bob, Catherine and Jake at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
