Dorothy Mae (Stewart) Barber

Dorothy Mae (Stewart) Barber, age 95, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Arbors at Mifflin.

Dorothy was born August 26, 1926 in Shelby to the late Morgan and Anna (Markwell) Stewart, Sr. Dorothy was a proud homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, canning, and crocheting. She was also a beautiful quilt maker and made several quilts for family members.

She is survived by 4 children: Joann (John) Clark of Mansfield, Pamela (Daniel) Barcroft of Mansfield, Cathy (Gary) Perry of Mansfield, and Glen (Jackie) Barber of Ashland; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. On December 5, 1943 she married Winford E. Barber, Sr. and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son: Winford E. Barber, Jr.; a daughter: Linda Lewis; and 4 siblings: Alberta, Corlena, Mary, and Morgan, Jr.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 10:30 am. Pastor Ron Puff will officiate the services with burial following in Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
