  6. James & Barbara Eakins says:

Norma, Pauline, and Kevin. I have lost my best friend and Kindred spirit, and I can sympathize with you in the loss of your dear Mother. Doris was the kindest person. She always had a youthful and exuberant outlook on life. She and I have been friends for almost 50 years so I have lots of wonderful memories of our times together. When your Dad was living, Jim and I had lots of good times with your parents, such as going to Jolly Rogers or to Put-In-Bay and Kelly’s Island or to the Myers Band Shell Summer Concerts in Ashland and to get ice cream afterwards at the Merry-Go-Round Restaurant, and all of the card games we enjoyed playing. We missed Wayne so much after he passed.
Also, lots of good times at our Mother’s Club Meetings with your Mom and later with all the husbands of the members when we would go out once a month and eat in an area restaurant. Of course, Covid-19 put an end to that temporarily. I was so looking forward to helping Doris celebrate her 100th birthday, but of course, some things can never be. I will always love her and hold her close to my heart.
