Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Donna J. Anderson

Donna J. Anderson, age 89, of Sebring, Florida, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her residence.

She was born May 7, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie Diehl. Donna was a proud 1943 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Ohio where she was the head majorette in the marching band and worked in the school office. As a young woman, Donna ran her own dancing school and then later used those talents well into her seventies teaching dancing to young and old. A consummate volunteer, Donna gave of herself in dozens of ways. She was an active helper in the Warren Champion schools when her daughters attended.

Donna was a charter member of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Warren, Ohio. Before retiring Donna worked at SCOPE as the program director and also was a trainer for the former Union Saving & Loan bank. Donna used her skills when she and her husband retired to Florida to build many programs for the residents of Crystal Lake Club in Avon Park, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Richard N. Anderson. They were married August 25, 1950 and were best friends to each other for 64 years. She is also survived by her daughters: Kathy (Kent) Snyder of Shelby, Ohio, and Lori (Tom) Beach of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She was especially proud of her three grandchildren: Kevin (Jessica) Snyder of Akron, Ohio, Kurt Snyder of Newark, Ohio, and Kelly (Glenn) Zdazenski of Hamburg, New York. Kevin and Jessica recently blessed her with triplet great-grandchildren Nolan, Brayden, and Avery Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn daughter Pamela in 1955.

Per Donna’s wishes there will be no planned services at this time. The family believes Donna would have appreciated memorials of time volunteering with organizations that are meaningful to the giver. Her husband can be reached at 245 Oak Ave. Apt. 606 Sebring, FL 33870. Care given by Bob, Catherine and Jake at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
