Dolores A. Biglin

Dolores A. Biglin, age 95, of Shelby, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her home.

Dolores was born April 22, 1918 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Tome) Heiland. As a homemaker, Dolores was an excellent baker and cook. Known as the “cake lady”, she baked and decorated thousands of cakes for graduations, birthdays and many other occasions for many area families. She also loved doing crafts and needlepoints and cherished time with her children and grandchildren. Dolores was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Francis Home Auxiliary in Tiffin.

Dolores is survived by two daughters: Judy Biglin of Shelby, Jeanne Metzger of Shelby; a son, Charles “Butch” (Cathy) Biglin of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Kevin (Suzanne) Metzger, Chad (Wendy) Metzger, Denise (Curt) Miller, Jenni Lacy, Joe Biglin; 8 great grandchildren: Chris and Ryan Metzger, Cameron and Carson Metzger, Sammy, Nick, and Zack Miller, Benji Lacy. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ernest J. Biglin in 1988; a son-in-law: Robert A. Metzger; a sister: Elizabeth Lux; a brother: Larry Heiland.

Friends and family are welcome on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2-5 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where a rosary will be recited at 4:45 PM by the Daughters of Isabella. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. James Sanford officiating. Burial will follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Med Central Hospice.

Dolores’ family would like to thank Janet, Sharon N., Sharon T., Cheri, and Robin for the care given to their mother and grandmother over the past few years.
