Diane I. Renz
Diane I. Renz, age 55, of Shelby, died Saturday morning December 2, 2017 at her home, after a short illness, in the company of her father and her caregiver Melissa.
Diane was born July 21, 1962 in Shelby, the daughter of Albert and Christina (Herman) Renz. She was a 1980 graduate of Shelby High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and had been a volunteer at Ohio Health Shelby Hospital.
Through Diane’s determination and the loving care of her parents and caregivers, she defied all odds. Hundreds of doctors said that she would not live past 18 years of age. Though confined to a wheelchair the majority of her life, she became a valued member of the staff of Shelby City Schools where she served as teacher’s aide since 1990. She also served in that capacity at Shelby Christian Academy from 1980 to 1990. She loved her students and was loved and respected by them. These relationships allowed Diane to live a full, happy, and productive life.
She is survived by her father, Albert Renz of Shelby along with aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her mother, Christina and her sister Lilli.
Family and Friends are invited to attend her visitation and funeral services. Calling Hours will be held onTuesday, December 5, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:30 Am at the funeral home with Rev. Russel Yoak officiating. Burial will be next to her mother and sister at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
