Diane I. Renz, age 55, of Shelby, died Saturday morning December 2, 2017 at her home, after a short illness, in the company of her father and her caregiver Melissa.
Diane was born July 21, 1962 in Shelby, the daughter of Albert and Christina (Herman) Renz. She was a 1980 graduate of Shelby High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and had been a volunteer at Ohio Health Shelby Hospital.

Through Diane’s determination and the loving care of her parents and caregivers, she defied all odds. Hundreds of doctors said that she would not live past 18 years of age. Though confined to a wheelchair the majority of her life, she became a valued member of the staff of Shelby City Schools where she served as teacher’s aide since 1990. She also served in that capacity at Shelby Christian Academy from 1980 to 1990. She loved her students and was loved and respected by them. These relationships allowed Diane to live a full, happy, and productive life.

She is survived by her father, Albert Renz of Shelby along with aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her mother, Christina and her sister Lilli.

Family and Friends are invited to attend her visitation and funeral services. Calling Hours will be held onTuesday, December 5, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:30 Am at the funeral home with Rev. Russel Yoak officiating. Burial will be next to her mother and sister at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

    Prayers for the family n friend. I was just in 1st or 2nd grade when i met this young lady. She was the sweetest person you will have meet. She was always dressed up n had her bring pink lipstick on. Everyone one the students she had would fight to push her chair or to ride in her chair with her this lady was so loved and recognized for all the great thinks she has done for our community. R.I.P and rest easy because heaven gained another angle today.

    I am so sorry for your loss. This makes me so sad! I had her as my Teacher Aid when I was little. I just loved her! She helped me a lot in school. She was very loved. One of the nicest sweetest people I ever have known. Heaven gained an angel. She’s up there running and jumping for joy now! I pray for peace and comfort for your family.

    To the Renz family, I am so sorry to hear of Diane’s passing, she was just the sweetest!! I had the pleasure of working with her at the hospital in the 90’s when we were converting our computer system. Diane volunteered to type that information in for us. She was so dedicated to that process and spent hours helping us one summer. From then we were friends, when ever I would run into her she was always so up beat, I know she loved to shop with her mother!! Prayers for your family, she will be missed!

    Diane was a classmate and part of my graduating class. I have often wondered how life has been for her. Sounds like she had a very fulfilling one. I remember how devoted her parents were to her when some of us her classmates visited. May God comfort all who loved and adored her. Praying for all whose lives she touched.     Diane brightened so many of my summer days! What a blessing it was in my life to stop and visit with her as she enjoyed being outdoors. She always waved to me, I would stop and we visited. Diane always inquiring about me and my family and what things were going on in our lives. When I think about Diane the word Joyful comes to mind.     Albert, you have my sincere sympathy. It was always so nice to visit at your house, loved it. I’ll remember the times Diane and I had fun laughing, she would call her pioneer aide, Hawkeye, and we would laugh. Diane was a joy, and when I’ d be with her, she always made me laugh.
