David S. “Dave” Spencer
David S. “Dave” Spencer, age 77, of Shiloh, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, as a result of the Covid-19 Infection.
Dave was born on January 5, 1944 in Johns Branch, War, WV to the late Lee and Percie (Robinson) Spencer. He was a graduate of Willard High School and furthered his education at North Central Technical College, receiving an associate’s degree in Engineering. Dave served his country in the United States Navy, where he was a Radar Tech on USS Estes during the Vietnam Era. After serving, Dave worked for American Baler in Bellevue from where he retired. He was a former member of the Willard Eagles and the American Legion. Dave was very fascinated with how the universe works and spent a lot of time researching and learning the topic, leading him to writing his book, How We Got Here, which was published. In his free time, he attempted to play guitar, was an avid reader, and watched many science fiction movies. Dave also enjoyed tinkering and inventing in his shop.
Survivors include his loving companion: Gloria Jean Brown and her family; brother: Chalmer “Duke” Spencer of Plymouth; sister: Linda “Katie” (Kevin) Lehman of Shiloh; many loving nieces and nephews; his faithful K-9 companion: J.J.; and his lifelong friend: Earnie Miller. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by an infant sister: Anna Ruth Spencer; and sister: Bess Lewis.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held and announced at a later date. Care for Dave and his family is being provided by the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.

Dave was my step dad he sure was a good dad to us 6 kids he loved us unconditionally he sure loved our mother and even when we got older he still was their for us and i loved talking to him he was so intelligent and he knew what to say to calm the storm so to speak, when id go clean for him he would always play the guitar and sing Desperado I will never forget him i will always have a place in my heart and I know my family is going to miss him dearly and my mom I know she’s missing him very badly my mom is taking this pretty bad keep her in your prayers and our family till we meet again dave ❤❤❤

My sincerest sympathy goes to the Spencer family! Dave & I met when we were about 12 years old and continued to be best friends for life! We made a pact that we would always be there for each other and we were! I will sincerely miss him ! I know that when it is my turn he will be there to meet me! Till we meet again! I will miss you buddy!
