Darrell Andrew Smith

Darrell Andrew Smith, age 58, of Plymouth, died Friday, November 25, 2022 at his home following a battle with cancer.

Darrell was born October 19, 1964 in Mansfield and began working at OmniSource in 1993 where he was still currently employed. An outdoorsman through and through, Darrell loved hunting, fishing, and camping and also enjoyed NASCAR.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathryn Jane “Kathy” (Crose) Smith, whom he wed on September 7, 1996; children: Matthew Smith of Shiloh, George Artrip of Mansfield, and Rachel Artrip of Mansfield; grandchildren whom Darrell and Kathy have raised, Mahleah and Audrey Smith; his mother: Linda (Vance) Wallace of Jewett; 11 additional grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Daniel Smith and Carl Wallace, Jr.; 3 sisters: Nancy Smith, Tammie Knipp, and Jennifer Thompson; his mother-in-law: Anna Crose; special friends: Mark and Ellen King and Jason Tinkey; and other relatives and friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his father and step-mother: Walter and Donna Smith; and 2 sons: Michael Andrew Smith and Derrick Gerhart.

Per Darrell’s wishes, calling hours and funeral services will not be immediately observed. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Care for Darrell and his family is being provided by the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
