Danny Carl “Dan” Waldruff

Danny Carl “Dan” Waldruff, age 68, of Shelby died Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. His death follows an extended illness.
Dan was born on February 24, 1956 in Shelby to the late Carl R. and Rhea I. (Hartz) Waldruff. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1974. Dan retired after 30+ years from Richland Bank, now Park National, where he worked in their maintenance department.
Dan was a hardworking man- a jack of all trades to say the least. He prided himself on being a good mechanic and repairman being able to fix most anything. He loved to travel, especially to Florida or wherever the sun was shining, which brought the warm weather. A music lover, Dan’s music collection was eclectic from Classic Rock to Pop Rock and everything in between. Dan was a faith filled man, knowing Jesus and loving Him with his whole heart. He was also very passionate about his country and felt great pride to be an American. His love for cars and motorcycles, especially the Chevy Camaro, Harley Davidson, and Kawaski Ninja racing bike, was certainly evident.
Dan is survived by his children: Kristen (Jim) Evans of Shelby and Alex (Alayna) Waldruff of Sycamore; grandchildren: Cam Evans, Laynie Evans, Natalie Evans, Marcus Waldruff, Mya Waldruff, and Haley Waldruff; sister-in-law: Gloria Waldruff; and numerous other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister: Lola Winningham and brother: Larry Waldruff.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 4-6 pm at Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875, where funeral services will immediately follow at 6 pm. Pastor Kevin Evans will officiate the services.
Condolences may be left on the funeral home’s website (PenwellFuneralHome.com) or their Facebook page (Facebook.com/PenwellFuneralHome).

Kristen & Alex
Sorry to hear of your father’s passing Wednesday. It’s sad to think all three of the Waldruff kids are now gone, and outside of Gloria, only our generation is left. I wish you two the best of comfort in your faith and my condolences to you and your respective families.
So sorry for the families loss, I worked with Danny at Richland Bank years ago. He was always a gentle giant. Nobody nicer.
Dan was a very loyal and conscientious employee, always friendly and willing to help with anything. He was loved by everyone at the bank, employees and customers.
Our sincere condolences to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed.

My sympathies to Kristen and Alex. Your dad was one of the best. He poured his heart and soul into his job and could always be counted on. He loved his kids and his country and God and those three things show us what he was made of. He will truly be missed by all of his fellow Richland bankers and retirees that had the pleasure of working with him.
My sincere sympathies go out to you kids! Your dad was one of the best!! He helped make going to work fun! I will be thinking of you as you face the next days. I live in Florida now, so for that reason I can’t be with you.
So sorry to Danny’s family and friends for your loss of a good man. Danny was so sweet and so helpful when ever asked to help. God Speed Danny, so blessed to have worked with you and so blessed to have known you for so many years.
Dan Dan my maintenance man..I will miss you.
Alex and Kristen, I was so sad to read of your dad’s passing. I pray happy memories will bring you comfort.
I’m so sorry to hear about Danny’s passing. We we’re second cousins. I moved away from Shelby 15 years ago and lost track of him. Such a shame.
