Dan C. Shepherd

Dan C. Shepherd, age 81, of Shiloh, died Thursday night, January 30, 2025 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

Dan was born April 8, 1943 to the late Jacob and Susie (Coffey) Shepherd. He graduated from Plymouth High School and served his country in the United States Army. For over 25 years, Dan’s working life was unloading shipping containers in train lots.

First and foremost, Dan loved the Lord Jesus Christ and cherished his family and friends. A gun enthusiast, Dan thoroughly enjoyed shooting. Dan’s talents rested where he enjoyed working- in his shop. Whether it be woodworking, welding, or machine work, Dan was doing it. He even designed and built his own tractor and loved restoring and building old cars.

Dan is survived by his siblings: Tressi (Fred) Henderson of Salt Lake City, UT, Sarah Steele of Shiloh, Larry Shepherd of Plymouth, Jacob Shepherd of Shiloh, Charlotte Adams of Shiloh, George (Linda) Shepherd of Shiloh, David (Candis) Shepherd of Shiloh; brother-in-law: Paul Currier; sister-in-law: Annie Shepherd; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother: Ronnie Shepherd; sister: Margaret Currier; infant brother: Ollie Shepherd; brother-in-law: Bob Adams; and niece: Shelly Shepherd.

Calling hours and funeral services will not be observed. Burial will be private in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Care for Dan and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.     Great guy that Dan. Great mechanic, welder, liked fishing, and “researching “ all winter long on his next project.
    Dog lover, gun and shooting lover, and car lover. Weren’t much he couldn’t do.
    We lost a good here and will be missed. RIP Calhoun❤️

    To all my Shepherd cousins there in Shiloh and beyond, I will miss Dan. Talks with him and Sarah on the porch were great times. He always liked to tell a joke. And he talked about God. And he told stories from his childhood and his family-things that I had never heard. His talent with metal work and gardening was amazing. I am sad that he is gone from us but know that he is in a better place and feeling renewed. Hugs and love to you all.
