Consuelo L. “Connie” Steed
Consuelo L. “Connie” Steed, age 72, of Shelby, died early Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Connie was born January 2, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Joseph Guadalupe and Violet Minnie (Marcus) Lopez. Connie attended Loyola University Chicago and was a school teacher for several years at a Catholic school in Chicago. She later moved to Virginia where she worked on a military base. It was while in Virginia that Connie met Gary Lee Steed and they married on May 13, 1995. Together they moved to Shelby, Ohio after Connie health declined to be closer to his family. They were married 20 years until his unexpected death on August 29, 2015.
Connie was a genuine, caring and sweet person. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church and upon moving to Ohio, became a member of Lexington Resurrection Parish. She now rests in the loving arms of Jesus.
Connie was the dear sister of the late Celestina Smith; beloved aunt to Deborah Joy Singer of St. Louis, Mo, Lionel Lee Brashares Jr. of Chicago, Il, and the late Cephas Smith; great aunt to 10; and great great aunt to 3.
Calling hours and funeral services will not be observed. Inurnment will be beside her husband, Gary, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Aunt Connor. Lala. I will forever remember your contagious smile and dimples. Your warmth and childlike enthusiasm stays with me to this day. You were a refuge in the chaos of my childhood. R.I.P.
