Penwell Turner Funeral Home - Shelby, Ohio

Constance L. “Connie” Stuckert

Constance L. “Connie” Stuckert, age 85, of Ontario, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, September 28, 2024 at her home.

Connie was born January 28, 1939 in Mansfield to the late Clifford J. and Arlene C. (Long) Stevens. A 1956 graduate of Shelby High School, she then began work at the Autocall Company in Shelby and later Wagner Hardware in Mansfield. Connie married Joe R. Stuckert on January 11, 1958. In 1959, they moved to Findlay where they resided until 1966 before returning to Ontario. It was in Ontario that they deeply planted their roots and made a home.

Upon their return to Ontario, they joined the Ontario United Methodist Church where Connie served for many years as Secretary for the Finance Committee and Administrative Board/Council. She was Chairperson of the Administrative Board/Council, Chairperson of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, and served as the church Treasurer. She was continuously active in all church activities including assisting with confirmation classes for 8 years. Her church and church family always remained a very important part of Connie’s life.

Additionally, Connie and Joe were great supporters of Ontario Schools and their students. For over ten years, they enjoyed volunteering at the concession stands for both football and basketball games at Ontario High School. Her greatest joy was her great grandchildren- loving them and being a part of their lives. All children, whether her own or not, brought her much happiness.

For her career, Connie worked with Richland County Legal Aid before being employed for 31 years by the UAW-GM Legal Services Plan as their office manager. Following retirement, Connie continued to work part-time for the UAW-GM Legal Services Plan.

Connie is survived by her family she loved dearly; her daughter and son-in-law: Joni L. and Jeff Davis of Ontario; grandchildren: Angela Cunningham (Ian Zeune) of Ontario, Joshua (Nikki) Davis of Mansfield, and Joe (Alexis) Davis of Galion; great grandchildren: Caden Cunningham, Christian Carver, Matthew Carver, Emily Davis, Olivia Davis, Isaac Davis, Nathan Davis, Braelynn Davis, and Chesney Davis; half-sister: Becky Kathrein; and other relatives and friends, included dear friend: Barb Petit. In addition to her parents, her husband, Joe, preceded her in death on March 27, 2021, along with her daughter: Amy Cunningham on February 2, 2022; brothers and sister-in-law: Thomas Stevens and Edward and Carolyn Stevens; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard and Nancy Stuckert.

The family would like to especially thank the team from Southern Care Hospice for their exceptional care of Connie- specifically her nurse, Brittany, and social worker, Michelle.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, October 12, 2024 (please note the exact date) from 11 am-1 pm at the Ontario United Methodist Church, 3540 Park Avenue W, Ontario, OH 44906 where funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm. Pastor Chris Bell will officiate the services, assisted by Pastor George Lee, with burial following in the adjoining Ontario Community Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Southern Care Hospice.
