Clara A. (Fidler) Shorter

Clara A. Shorter, age 78, of Mansfield, died early Wednesday morning, August 2, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Clara was born February 6, 1939 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Chester and Christina (Schuff) Fidler. She was a 1957 graduate of Shelby High School. Clara spent the majority of her career in customer service, starting at Zayers, which later became Ames, before moving to Walmart in Ashland where she later retired from their pharmacy department. She enjoyed crossword puzzles but her favorite pastime was watching sports, especially the Cleveland Indians and NASCAR races.
Survivors include her husband: Lawrence C. “Larry” Shorter whom she wed on May 9, 1957 and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage; 2 children: Terryann (TJ) Militello of Mansfield and Lawrence Lee (Peggy Starr) Shorter of Shelby; 2 grandchildren: Bryant Shorter and Andrea Militello; 3 great grandchildren: Jordan Shaffer, Devin Flick, and Addison Bisel; 2 sisters: Anna Ward of Mansfield and Diane (Ken) Harmon of Sheffield Lake; 2 brothers-in-law: Lloyd (Kay) Shorter of PA and Lewis (Linda) Shorter of Shelby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Michael Hatfield, Chester Fidler, Jr., and Betty Zera.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 10-11 am at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 11 am. Rev. Dr. Jim Carder will officiate with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
