Cheryl V. Brown

For over 40 years she cared for residents at local nursing facilities, spending most of those years at what is now called Shelby Pointe. She was preceded in death by her father: Amos Guthrie Maynor; her grandmother: Edith Workman; her stepfather: Shelby Williams; her husband: Sherman “Toots” Brown; a sister: Priscilla Maynor; 2 brothers: Amos Maynor and Steve Maynor; and her great granddaughter: Isabella Renea Caudell.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11 am. Just found out about Cheryl’s passing-I’m sorry for your loss. I worked w Cheryl at Heritage Care Center-my 1st job! Majority of staff called her ‘Mama’ and she called me ‘Little One’-always felt special to have been given a nickname by ‘Mama’. She kept an eye on me and always inquired about my current situations, but also my future plans w college, marriage and career. Always felt like she kept things ‘together’ at HCC. She was always eager to defend the underdog, advocate for her clients and share a laugh w anyone. She is a bright spot in my life and will always be a special person to remember❤

  11. Donna Somogyi says:

So sorry to find out Cheryl left us. I didn’t know this until today, her Birthday. Cheryl was one of the best CNA’s I ever worked with. And she was so much fun and had the greatest personality. Cheryl, enjoy your Birthday in Heaven!
You are truly loved and missed! Watch over us … until we meet again!❤️
