Charlotte M. Auer

Charlotte M. Auer, age 92, lifelong Shelby resident and most recently of Galion, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Crestline Nursing Home.

Charlotte was born October 28, 1929 in Shelby to the late Otto and Teresa (Metzger) Stine. She was a 1947 graduate of Shelby High School and spent her entire career at Dr. Dowd’s office as his office manager. Charlotte was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Charlotte was strong willed, brave, generous, and loving- all things she taught and passed down to her kids and grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, enjoyed bowling, and retired to become an “Avon” lady.

Those who survive include her children: Jean Auer of Galion, Teresa (Tim) Armstrong of Shelby, and Jim Auer; four grandchildren: Chad (Megan) Auer, Trisha Armstrong (Dylan Sandy), Taylor Armstrong (Salathiel Baker) and Tanner Armstrong; 8 great grandchildren: Julia, Dylan, Baylee, Jaxson, Grant, Charlotte, Madeline, and Maxwell; a brother: James (Shirley) Stine of Shelby; sister-in-law: Wanda Stine; and brother-in-law: Roger Misamore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her siblings: Sabina Rice, Janet Yetzer, Mary Houpt, Darwin Stine, and Marlene Misamore.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where a rosary will be recited at 7pm. Charlotte’s funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 11 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5742 State Route 61, Shelby. Father Paul Fahrbach will celebrate and burial will follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Fire EMS or Galion EMS.
