Charles Leroy Arter

Charles Leroy Arter, age 76, a longtime resident of The Raintree in Mansfield, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1937 in Shelby the son of the late Kenneth and Rosella (Hook) Arter. Charlie had been an employee of Richland Newhope Industries.  One of his greatest joys was to be outdoors enjoying nature. He also had a love of tractors – especially John Deere tractors.

 Charlie is survived by 3 nephews: Jess Carey, Steven Carey, Kenneth Frederick; 2 nieces: Susan Dennis and Lorie Carey; and all of his loving family at The Raintree. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings: Paul Arter, Mary Breister and Carol Frederick.

 A memorial mass for Charlie will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5754 State Route 61 South, Shelby,  with Father Michael Geiger officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

    I had the honor of knowing Charlie.. I took care of him when he came to Raintree. He was always joking around with people liked looking at his tractor magazines. He will be truly missed and loved by many.

    Charlie was a wonderful person. Love the times I spent with him when he was first living at Glendale. He always had his pipe and mowed the lawn. Loved tractors and I took him to the tractor show one year at the JVS in Ashland fun day we had. He will be missed I am sure. He is with the lord now.
