Carol died at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby and George died at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Carol was born December 22, 1939 in Holmes County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edith (Kreger) and Earl Miller. She was a graduate of Ontario High School and was proud to attend a year at The Ohio State University before meeting her love, George. On November 21, 1959, George and Carol were married and spent 56 wonderful years together. They did everything together spending very little time apart. They loved to travel having been to all 50 states. They were members of the Honda Goldwing Club, Chapter B, and traveled to all but three states on their motorcycle. Carol and George loved the outdoors especially going to the lake and watching for birds, specifically finding eagle’s nests. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church where Carol had taught Sunday school for many years.

They loved to spend time with their family whenever possible. Surviving are: 3 daughters: Sherri (Gene) Gowitzka of Shelby, Shelly Poole of Rutherfordton, NC, and Stefanie (Robert) Green of Crestline; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; Carol’s sister: Shirley  (Dick) Carpenter of Shelby; George’s brother: Royce (Janet) Johnston of Greenwich; Carol’s 2 aunts: Helen Graham and Erma Ammons; and several other relatives and friends.

We are so sorry for your loss. We rode many, many wonderful trips with George and Carol on our motorcycles. They were wonderful people who were devoted solely to each other. If anyone has ever met their soul mates, they did. There was nothing George would not have done for Carol and she felt the same. By watching them, you could tell how much they loved and were devoted to each other. Nothing was more important to them than their family. They loved you dearly. We are so sorry for the loss of your mother and father. Our prayers and thoughts are with the whole family at this time.
