Brenda Diane Brown

Brenda Diane Brown, age 73, of Shelby, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Brenda was born January 28, 1951, in Ashland, KY to the late Roberts and Shirley (Boyle) Barndollar. A 1969 graduate of Greenup Independent School. Brenda then married Roy Thomas Brown on October 18, 1969. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage before his passing on October 31, 2001. Brenda was a homemaker in every sense of the word, caring for her home and raising her family who she loved dearly. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working on many projects not just for herself, but for others.

Brenda had a true servant’s heart.  An active and longtime member of Shelby First Free Will Baptist Church, she found joy in volunteering at her church and served as the President of the church’s Ladies Auxiliary. In addition, Brenda was dedicated to volunteering for Shelby Helpline Ministries, Richland Pregnancy Services, Harmony House, and was a longtime precinct Presiding Judge for the Richland County Board of Elections.

Brenda is survived by her children: Heather Brown of Shelby and Adam (Cassie) Brown of Ontario; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Bennett, and Eden; sisters: Betty Robinson, April Washburn, and Emma Banton; brother: Arthur Barndollar; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. In addition to her parents and her husband Roy, Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter: Becky Brown in 2010; and her sister: Cheryl Brumfield.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 1:30-3:30 and 5:30-7:30 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875 where funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10 am. Pastor Matt Pond, her pastor, will officiate the services with burial following in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby First Free Will Baptist Church or Shelby Helpline Ministries.

    As a child I could only see her beauty. She taught me to play many games because there were so many of us kids, game like red light green light and red rover- and whipped us if we didn’t mind her! My sweet cousin. Rest peacefully.
