April Dawn Swanigan, age 36, of Mansfield died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
April was born on September 20, 1989 in Mansfield, Ohio to Kathy Lynn (Prater) and David Edward Swanigan Sr. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, especially diamond dots. April found comfort in writing in her journal. More than anything, she treasured time spent with family and friends. She looked forward to gatherings, laughter, and being surrounded by the people she loved. Known for her generous spirit and giving heart, she was always ready to help anyone in need.
April is survived by her father: David Swanigan Sr; her children: Amaya Gamble, Jordan Binion, and Layla Lyons; brother: David Swanigan Jr; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy, and her brother, Eric Swanigan.
Friends and family are welcome on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 12-2 PM at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 2 PM. Pastor Jason Lewis will officiate.

April, you were a hilarious part of my life. We sat together in grief, sadness, and happiness. My sincerest condolences to your family.
April was such a lovely beautiful light that constantly shined. a beautiful soul gone too soon. All she ever wanted was to progress in life and love her family be around people who loved her back. Rest in peace my friend GOD got him another precious angel rest up friend you will be greatly missed love.
