Annette Elisabeth (Fry) Gibson

Annette Elisabeth (Fry) Gibson, age 61, of Shelby, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

 

She was born December 1, 1953 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Richard B. and Peggy J. (Major) Fry. She was a 1972 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and a 1975 graduate of Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing. Annette began her nursing career in 1975 at Shelby Hospital, having served her entire career there. She was a very dedicated nurse spending 23 years in labor and delivery and then in administration as a case manager. She retired in 2010. Annette especially appreciated the lifelong friendships she made in her career, beginning in nursing school.

 

She was an active life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby where she was a member of the welcoming and fellowship committee, adult choir, hand bell choir, was a lector, shepherd, and helped with vacation Bible school. She was also a member of the Young Reflections Mothers Club, Hazel Grove Jolly Club and Hazel Grove Ladies Aide. She enjoyed needlepoint and embroidery.

 

She is survived by her husband: Harold E. “Hal” Gibson, whom she wed on June 21, 2003; 2 sons: Aaron Reed of Parma and Christopher Reed of Shelby; a granddaughter: Austyn May Batory; a step daughter: Jenny (Mike) Kelly of Mansfield; a step grandson: Michael Kelly; 2 siblings: Connie (Mic) Ament  and Mark (Susan) Fry all of Shelby; Nieces, nephews and other relatives; a special friend and personal caregiver: Lynne Phillips of Greenwich.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Friends and family are welcome on Friday, February 20, 2014 at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway, Shelby with Pastor Russel Yoak and Mrs. Gaye Shira officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial expressions may be made to Northern Ohio Chapter of ALS Association or to First Lutheran Church.
