Alice Marie Ruhl

Alice Marie Ruhl, age 94, currently of Ashland and longtime Mansfield resident, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Brookwood Place in Ashland.

Alice was born August 29, 1924 in Homerville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Mabel (Dickinson) Archer. She was elementary school teacher for Ontario School District for many years. Alice loved Kingwood Center and volunteered there as a docent and gardener for many years. She also enjoyed golfing. Alice was a member of Phi Chi Theta Fraternity and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mansfield.

Alice is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including: Karen Cooke, Linda LaGoy, Deb Amsbaugh, Rick Wetz, Terri Wetz, Don Harris, and Coni Harris; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Ruhl, in 2002 and was the last surviving sibling of 8.

Funeral services will be private and calling hours will not be observed. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 W Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44907.

Care for Alice and her family is being provided by Jake, Bob and Catherine at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.

    I often wondered what happed to Alice. She was one of my most favorite teachers at Bedford. She allowed me to be creative and encouraged creativity, which I still use to this day. My prayers to the family!
