Winifred “Winnie” (Allen) McLaughlin

Winifred Winnie (Allen) McLaughlin, age 101, of 191 Redwood Road, Mansfield, and formerly of Shelby, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Lexington Court Nursing Home. Winnie would have celebrated her 102nd birthday with her family on May 3, 2005; however, she will now be celebrating that day with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Winnie was born on May 3, 1903 in Shelby and was a 1921 graduate of Shelby High School. She worked at the Household Shop in Shelby for many years with her brother, Frank Allen. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby and attended Grace Fellowship Church in Mansfield. She moved from Shelby to Mansfield in 1977. Her hobbies included quilting and gardening, with special attention to rose gardening. She was sharp as a tack till her final hours here on earth and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter and spouse: Carolyn (Davis) and Bill Sanford of Mansfield; a daughter-in-law and spouse: Mildred and James Buckalew of Mansfield; 6 grandchildren and spouses: Kathy (Davis) and Geoff Foster of Columbus, Mike Davis, Nancy (Davis) and Jim Walker, Sue (Davis) and Brian Golbus all of South Carolina, Mary Ann (McLaughlin) Armstrong of Loudonville, David and Marilyn McLaughlin of Ann Arbor, MI; a step granddaughter: Kristi Sanford of Chicago; 12 great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Andrew Foster, Ashley, Alexia, Megan, and Tyler Golbus, Cameron McLaughlin, Matthew Armstrong, Cassandra, Camille, David, and Michael Walker; Niece, Pat Freyberg and Nephew, George Allen both of Shelby; a great nephew and spouse: Scott and Angie Freyberg of Delaware. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carrie (Ashley) Allen, her husband, George McLaughlin in 1945, a son, Bernard McLaughlin in 1972, a brother, Frank A. Allen, and a sister, Ethel Miller.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 7, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kim Maurer, of Ontario Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
