William Ray Boreman

William Ray Boreman, Jr., age 79, of 71 Auburn Avenue, Shelby, died Monday evening, September 12, 2005 at the Crestwood Care Center after a short illness.

Ray was born May 7, 1926 in Shelby the son of the late William R. and Verda G. (Rogers) Boreman. He was a 1944 graduate of Shelby High School. Ray was a veteran of the United States Navy in both WWII and the Korean War. He served in the South Pacific as a boatswain mate 3rd Class. He was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Shelby where he was an elder and deacon and was the clerk of session for many years. He took great pride in caring for the church building and grounds. He retired from Shelby Insurance Company in 1988 after 25 years of service and had also been employed for many years at the Peoples Store in Shelby. He was a former cub master and served in various positions in the Shelby Little League. Ray enjoyed following all types of sports.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey J. (Chambers) Boreman, whom he wed on March 2, 1946 at the First English Lutheran Church in Crestline; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Boreman of Lexington, Brent and Susan Boreman of Moon Township, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Jack Kitzmiller of Shelby; 7 grandchildren, Aaron Boreman, Arica Boreman, Michele Burgess, Megan Boreman, Monica Boreman, Kendra Kitzmiller, Jason Kitzmiller; a great grandson, Harrison Burgess; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Paul Beck of Crestline.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, from 6-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and also from noon until 1PM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby. Funeral services will at 1 PM at the church with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military honors conducted by Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the church.
