William R. Ulmer
William R. Ulmer, age 80, of 14 West Street, Shelby, died unexpectedly Friday evening, April 18, 1997, in Med-Central Shelby Hospital. He was born March 2, 1917 in Tiro, Ohio the son of Ralph and Ruth Ione (Bender) Ulmer.
Mr. Ulmer was a 1936 graduate of Tiro High School. He along with his wife were owners of Marcella’s Beauty Shop in Shelby since 1947. Prior to that he had been employed at the Shelby Autocall Co. He was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby .
Mr. Ulmer was chairman of the committee to rebuild and restore the pipe organ at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church. He was a lover of music having collected and restored pianos, organs and radios.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella (Armbruster) Ulmer, whom he wed on April 28, 1943; 1 daughter, Elizabeth Hall of Bellville, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Israel Brown, Cherokee Whitmore, and Joshua Brown; 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers, Howard Ulmer and Ellsworth Ulmer.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Sunday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, with his pastor, Father John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
