William L. Ray
William L. Ray, age 86, of 66 Jeffrey Avenue, Shelby, died Friday morning, November 13, 1998 at the Cleveland Clinic after a short illness.
He was born November 2, 1912 in Akron, Ohio, the son of William T. and Mary H. Ray. He was raised in Bellevue, Ohio, where he graduated from Bellevue High School. He worked at Copperweld-Shelby Division and worked as a projectionist for many years at the Castamba Theater in Shelby. He retired from the Michigan Steel Tube Company in Shelby in 1973. He was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, Knights of Columbus Council #1968 in Shelby, and the Planning Commission for the city of Shelby.
Mr. Ray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Mary Anne and Tom McConnell of West Salem, Ohio; a grandson and his wife, Todd and Erica McConnell of West Salem, a step-grandson and his wife, Curtis and Carolyn McConnell of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella E. (Van Wagner) Ray in 1992.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian wake service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 :00 A.M. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary’s School.
