Wilda M. Haverfield

Wilda M. Haverfield, age 76, of 75 Broadway, Shelby, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 at her home.

She was born October 13, 1926 in Richmond Township, Huron County, Ohio the daughter of the late Loy Clinton and Helen Gertrude (Carpenter) Coder. Wilda graduated in 1944 from Willard High School. She was a former employee of Wilkins Air Force Depot, had owned Broadway Bargain Center (a used clothing store), and worked with her husband, Lauren, at Haverfield Printing all in Shelby. Wilda was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its Naomi Circle. Her hobbies included cooking, baking and flower arranging. For many years, she was a faithful visitor to the residents of Heritage Care Center and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Wilda had a quick wit and a colorful sense of humor that will be missed by all those who loved and knew her.

Wilda is survived by her children and spouses: Helen A. Burkett, Tempe, AZ, Steven and Ellen Haverfield of Shelby, Jan and Randy Pry of Shelby; 7 grandchildren: Laurie Osborne, Sherri Burkett, Amy Mitchell, Kevin Haverfield, Jeff Haverfield, Phil Pry and Emily Pry; 2 great grandchildren: Garrett and Sierra; 2 sisters and spouses: Annabelle and Roger Pugh of Shelby, Ruth and Louis (Bill) Henderson of Hampton, VA; a brother and spouse: Lyndel and Sylvia Coder of Attica. On November 30, 1947 she married Lauren B. Haverfield and he preceded her in death on September 4, 2000. Her sister, Avis Sue Coder, also preceded her in death.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, and also on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 AM, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dave Carter officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to: Hospice of North Central Ohio or Trinity United Methodist Shining Lights Preschool.
