Wilbert Eugene “Wib” Felton

Wilbert Eugene “Wib” Felton, age 87, of 144 Leslie Lane, Shelby, died Saturday morning, November 10, 2001 at the Heritage Care Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Felton was born January 27, 1914 in Canonsburg, PA the son of the late John Adam and Hattie Mabel (Combs) Felton. He was the former owner of the Watch Hospital in Shelby for many years. He also drove school bus for Shelby and Ontario Schools for over 20 years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, serving in various postions on the board. He was very active in the Mansfield Chapter of the Gideons and very active with the Salvation Army in Shelby, and had delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a former member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F and AM. During WWII , he served his country in the South Pacific serving with the Navy SeaBees.

Mr. Felton is survived by his wife, Lois Virginia (Miller) Felton, whom he wed on February 17, 1945; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: John and Martha Felton of Lenox, MA and Don and Elinor Felton of Mansfield; 2 grandchildren: Lori Metheney and John Felton both of Mansfield; 2 great-grandchildren: Kristi and Cody Metheney; a sister: Anna Crawford of East Liverpool, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Cunningham.

Calling hours will be on Monday, November 12, 2001, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 :00 PM with Rev. Jeff Matthews, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military
honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Council. Memorial expressions may be made to the Gideons Memorial Bible or First United Methodist Church.
