Wanda Irene (Swank) Kegley

Wanda Irene Kegley, age 87, of Shelby, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at her home.

She was born August 14, 1923 in Bellville, Ohio the daughter of the late Guy and Goldie (Wolford) Swank. She was a former employee of the Shelby Gum Company and Miller Products in Shelby. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Faith. Wanda enjoyed doing puzzles but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Wanda is survived by her children: Anthony (Cathy) Kegley of Port Clinton, Robert (Diana) Kegley of Shelby, David (Jenny) Kegley of Willard, Shirley (Don) Leininger of Willard, Betty (Ivan) Johnson of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a brother: Raymond Swank of Shelby; a sister: Evelyn (Dale) Keysor of Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harley Dexter Kegley in 2001; a granddaughter: Jenny Steingass; a brother: Vernon Swank; 2 sisters: Betty Horn and Mary Swank.

Friends may call on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 PM conducted by Rev. O. Douglas Tackett. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Meals on Wheels or Hospice Of North Central Ohio. On-line condolences may be made at

    I am so sorry, I just (today) found your mother’s obituary. I didn’t know about it, or I would have been there for you. I called her a few times over the years and she was always very happy to hear from me. She was a wonderful gracious person and I have thought of her often over these 50 years.
