Waldo M. Niese

Waldo M. Niese, age 86, of 7833 State Route 96, Crestline, died late Monday evening in the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, after a 1 week illness. He was born December 25, 1908 in Miller City, Ohio the son of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Niese.

Mr. Niese, was a retired farmer, and had been a Pfeister Seed dealer for 35 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem Shelby Settlement. He was also a member of Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1968 where he had been Past Grand Knight, the Crawford County Soil and Conservation Board, the Crawford County Farm Bureau and the Shelby Moose Lodge.

Mr. Niese is survived by 5 sons and daughters-in-law, James and Shirley Niese, Jerry and Carol Niese , and Joseph and Maxine Niese all of Crestline; Robert and Lillian Niese of Shelby; and Thomas and Dorothy Niese of Tiro; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and William Tabor of Atlanta, Georgia; 24 Grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 brother, William Niese of Van Wert, Ohio, 3 sisters, Mary Rieman and Helen Rieman both of Crestline, and Pauline Smith of Ottowa, Ohio.

On June 5, 1935 he married Cecelia K. Rieman Niese and she preceded him in death in 1991. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Niese in 1993 a great granddaughter, Alyssa Auck, 2 sisters, Louise Wise and Agnes Heuve.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian wake service will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem with Father Gary Walters, officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 1995 at 7:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church restoration fund and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
