Vesta Hazel (Jones) Binion
Vesta Hazel Binion, age 89, formerly of 10 South Street, Shelby, died Wednesday,
September 2, 1998 in the Heritage Care Center after a long illness.
She was born March 30, 1909 in Jacobs, Kentucky the daughter of Ezekiel and Lou V. (Henderson) Jones. Mrs. Binion worked at the Wilkins Air Force Depot and the Hamburger inn in Shelby. She also cleaned houses while being a homemaker. She was a good seamstress, making most of her own clothes , quilts and crocheting afghans. She enjoyed reading especially her Bible. She was a member of the First Church of God on State Route 39.
Mrs. Binion is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Rebert and Mollie M. (Midge) Binion of Shelby; 2 granddaughters and spouses, Nadine and Larry Patrick of Shelby, and Shawn and Dan Carty of Westerville, Ohio; 6 great grandchildren, Megan Carty, Eric Shuty, Brian Shuty, Andrea Carty, Brittany Patrick and Lindsay Patrick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard F. Binion in 1979, and a granddaughter Patricia Binion. She was the last survivor of 10 children.
Calling hours will be on Saturday from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, in Shelby. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with her grandson-in-law, Dan Carty, officiating. Memorials may be made to purchase a popcorn machine at the Heritage Care Center.
