Vera P. (Griffith) Schwall

Vera P. Schwall, age 85, of 17400 Fort, Apt. #2, Riverview, Michigan, and formerly of Shelby, died Tuesday morning in Wyandotte Hospital and Medical Center in Wyandotte, Michigan.

She was born June 22, 1909 in Woodsfield, Ohio the daughter of James Finley and Myrtle Della (Gessell) Griffith.

Mrs. Schwall was a retired employee of the Shelby Insurance Company after 20 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln Park , Michigan, and the Rachel Circle at church. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Michigan.

She is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Shelvy Jean and Parker Lee Graham of Riverview, Michigan; 1 son and daughter-in-law, James and Ann Schwall of Indianapolis, Indiana; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson; 2 brothers, Okey Griffith and Lester Griffith both of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Franklin Schwall in 1977, and by 1 brother, Wilbert Griffith in 1990.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Matthews, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
