Velma H. (Herrick) Bauer

Velma H. Bauer, age 81, of 119 Park Village, Shelby, died early Thursday morning at her home after a short illness. She was born March 10, 1914 in Arona, Pennsylvania the daughter of Samuel and Justina Herrick.

Mrs. Bauer and her late husband owned and operated Isaly’s Restaurants in Ohio and Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Greensberg, Pennsylvania High School.

She is survived by 2 granddaughters and their spouses, Mary and James Bolin of Ontario and Laura and David Fullen of Columbus; 1 grandson, Justin Powell of Shelby ; 4 great grandchildren; 1 son-in-law, R. Lee Shepherd of Shelby; 2 sisters, Helen Steiner and Roseanna Herrick both of Irwin, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jacob Bauer in 1982; a daughter, Barbara Helen Shepherd, July 18, 1995; and by 1 brother , Frank and 4 sisters, Zelma, Mildred , Marion and Margaret.

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday at Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington with Rev. June Fryman, Associate Pastor of First Lutheran Church in Shelby.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League, and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
