Tiry D. Miller

Tiry D. Miller, 79, of 29 E. Gaylord Ave., died Sunday afternoon in Crestwood Care Center.
Born Nov. 2, 1906 in Logan County, he was the son of Edwin and Myrtle (Ven Ness) Miller.

He was a Western and Southern Insurance agent for several years. He retired from Empire-Detroit Steel as a payroll auditor in 1971 after 25 years of service.

He was one of the largest rare book dealers and collectors in Ohio. He was a member of the First UnIted Methodist Church in Shelby and the Mansfield Moose Lodge No. 341.

On Aug. 24, 1978, he married Mary Jane (Tracht) Miller, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Vale (Peggy) Reed of Mansfield; one son, Michael J. Miller of Shelby; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara (Adams) Miller, in 1965; one brother, Thurlow Miller; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Adams Cemetery on Bowman Street Road with Rev. Carl G. Beighley, his pastor, officiating. Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice and can be left at Turner Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
